Abstract
" ¡¦of all bites that of the human animal is the worst." Human bites of the face, although infrequent, are emergency situations, and sometimes the plastic & reconstructive surgeon may have to treat.

The protruding structures of the face, for example, ear, nose, and lip, were more frequently involved site and their structures are difficult regions in reconstructive surgery.

Eventually, aesthetical & functional deformity remained.

This series of human bite of the facial regions comprised 74 ca ses treated from 1st Jan. 1974 to 30th June. 1985, in our department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.

We have taken as our standard the definition of a human bite proposed by Patons.

The result obtained were as follows:

1. The 15 to 20 years of age is the group of peak incidence and the male to female ratio is 60:14

2.The most frequent involved site is ear(31/74)

3.In type of wound, class ¥° type is the most frequent(43/73)

4.The most frequent mode of injury is conflict(38/74)

5.Human bites occurred usually in drunken state by the unfamilial male

6.Incidence of infection was 4%

7.Aesthetical & functional reconstruction of the human bite injury was very difficult problems.
